“…Media coverage of police brutality and abuses of power is especially important under President Trump. In April, Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued a memorandum to “cut back on federal oversight of local law enforcement,” USA Today reported. In the memo, Sessions wrote, “It is not the responsibility of the federal government to manage nonfederal law enforcement agencies.” As The Atlantic wrote, “When local governments violate the basic constitutional rights of citizens, Americans are supposed to be able to look to the federal government to protect those rights. Sessions have made clear that when it comes to police abuses, they’re now on their own.”
“With Sessions reducing federal oversight on local law enforcement, the press is one of the most prominent institutions left to hold police accountable for bad behavior. This new reality is worrisome, to say the least, as media outlets have repeatedly criminalized black and other non-white victims of police violence. Additionally, conservative media have repeatedly portrayed advocates calling for reforms to curb police brutality, including Black Lives Matter, as criminals and terrorists. The lack of coverage cable news devoted to Edwards’ death shows that, so far, media haven’t stepped up to the plate.” -mediamatters.org
And the media propaganda machine continues to spew its lies. Take for example the quote from A.G. Sessions to: “cut back on federal oversight of local law enforcement,” and “It is not the responsibility of the federal government to manage nonfederal law enforcement agencies.” Every citizen (every Natural Born or otherwise Legal citizen) should be applauding this return to Constitutional Rule of Law as enshrined by Our Founding Fathers. Having worked myself in law enforcement from the local to the federal level, I almost cried with joy knowing that the grownups in long pants were now taking control of the reigns in D.C.
Indeed, it is not the job of the federal government, specifically the Justice Department to “oversee” Local, County or State law enforcement agencies. The proper role of the Justice Department is to use its discretion to investigate possible violations of federal law by agencies charged with policing their communities. Specifically, the violation(s) of individual Rights guaranteed under the Constitution and specific federal laws and relevant federal court rulings. If one’s Right(s) is violated by a police officer or other law enforcement entity under “Color of Law,” that’s when the federal government has an obligation to investigate and act if necessary. And, may determine that oversight of an agency is needed only in the most extreme cases and for only as long as it takes to correct the situation. The LAST thing this country needs is a national police force. The only non-harmful thing that would accomplish is to put officers in the same uniforms making us all look alike.
No state, hell, no local community has the same practices when it comes to policing. Yes, they all fall under the same federal laws and the same Constitution, however, each jurisdiction has its own “flavoring” according to geographical local and the culture of each community they serve. For example: Although law enforcement agencies use the same Use of Force continuum as prescribed by the Justice Department. It GUIDES their policies of how force may be used against a person. However, many agencies add additional guidance to their policies in order to add additional protections for their citizenry and the officers. To state…” Sessions have made clear that when it comes to police abuses, they’re (the people of America ) now on their own.” This total Liberal bullshit at worst and extreme hyperbole at best.
The next “worrisome” claim is that…” This new reality is worrisome, to say the least, as media outlets have repeatedly criminalized black and other non-white victims of police violence.” Whoa, what?! They actually mean CONSERVATIVE media. Why is it that the claim that some “victim” of police brutality was an innocent, a good church-going boy, a scholar, a great high school football player, anything but the thug that he was, replete with a criminal record six pages long? Why is it that media outlets publish or broadcast statements like…”A black man was shot by a White police officer today in….” The media is complicit in pushing a politically correct narrative, they conspire with families and local community “leaders” in not just words. For example, a 6’ 2” 220lb individual, with a criminal record, attacks a police officer and ends up being shot and dies. Instead of objectively reporting the news with actual facts, they show pictures (provided by the family of the perp) of said perp at the age of 14 in a football uniform. The Liberal media is actively driving the liberal agenda. The liberal mantra that anytime police do their job, is racist if the bad guy is a “person of color.”
So, when conservative media outlets, bloggers and the like report the truth, they are targeted. Accused of being a part of and complicit in systemic racism. BLM, New Black Panther Party, ANTIFA, et. al. are in FACT terrorist organizations. The politicians are either too afraid to say it or are conspiring with the media, the progressive movement and “community leaders” to decrease law and order and perpetuate the victim mentality. To say the “media haven’t stepped up to the plate,” is a joke, especially since they run the entire kitchen that is network television.
